Psalm 23:1-6
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
I wanted this oil painting, The Faithful Shepherd, to remind you of God's faithfulness, and His watchful care over you. He is The Faithful Shepherd. Only He will never fail us. And God thinks you are awesome, and He wants to hang out with you.
Is it selfishness on our part to want to receive God's love to us first and foremost? Actually, no, it is not. It is how we were made. We were made to be loved by God. And when we don't receive this love we will by default fill our lives with other things: work, alcohol, drugs, sex, video games—you name it and we can replace God’s love with it.
NIV 1 John 4:19
We love because he first loved us
We love because…Our Father, God, and His love are the cause of our love, and, as a result, all of love’s wonderful effects in our lives. This is the law of cause and effect. Getting this straight in our relationship with God is the reason for this book.
What is being a Christian to you? Is it about going to meetings and what you must do, need to do, have to do, and should or should not do? This is where much of modern day Christianity has missed things completely. Christianity is a relationship between the Father and His family.
