The Unity of the Spirit-The Seven ONES in Ephesians Four

The Unity of the Spirit-The Seven ONES in Ephesians Four

We could not even be involved in the crucifixion of our old sinful nature because it is impossible to commit suicide by crucifying oneself. God had to do everything for us; we could do nothing for ourselves. And as with our crucifixion, we will also need to rely on God’s help with our day-by-day walk with Him.

A lot of today’s Christianity has this all backward. For many weary believers, Christianity is all about performance. It is about looking the “right” way, doing the “right” things, going to the “right” meetings, and what we must do, have to do, ought to do, need to do, and should do. But how would it be if everything flowed to you from your Heavenly Father and your relationship with Him? What would it be like if your desire to love and serve Him sprang from your intimate knowledge of His love and goodness? And because of that fellowship with Him, you longed for the companionship of others on their journey? What if there was no compulsion, shaming, guilt, or fear motivation—is it possible? YES! This is how God your Father designed things to work. Isn’t this what the Lord Jesus Christ was talking about when he said this…?

NIV Matthew 11:30

30 “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

If the yoke you have on is difficult and your burden is heavy, then you didn’t get it from him. And ultimately, there are only two sources. Now, I am not saying that when you are walking this walk, it will be all rosewater and glycerin. Not hardly. But now you have the spirit-power in you to overcome. When you were reconciled to God, He gave you all the power you needed. These four words—not I, but Christ—are the essence of the Christian Walk. It is not trying; it is trusting. It is no longer I, but Christ.

Galatians 2:20

20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
